Is your CD/DVD Drive missing in Windows?
Thinking of phoning tech support to get a new one?
Try this first it may just fix it. Some CD & DVD Burning software installs filters within the Windows registry.
You can delete the Upper and Lower Filters which cause this problem of the drive not being recognised or missing in My Computer.
Fix:
- Click the Start button, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, expand the following registry path:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
- Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.
- Click Yes when prompted to delete the registry value.
- In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete.
- Click Yes when prompted to delete the registry value.
- Quit Registry Editor. To do this, click Exit on the File menu.
- Restart the computer.
Hope that helps!!!
